About the studio
Studio Policies
* Lessons run from September through June. Post-dated cheques are requested for the year. Lesson prices for September 2008 are $83.60/month for Tuesday-Thursday, and $74.80/month for Monday (because of stat holidays)
* “Pay As You Go” lessons are offered at $30/half hour lesson for adult students who need more flexibility and are unable to come on a weekly basis. No specific weekly lesson time is reserved.
* Studio events such as piano parties are included in the lesson cost. A CD library will also be available in September 2008 for students to borrow from. Books and student supplies are not included.
* If a student wishes to withdraw from lessons anytime during the year notice must be given one month in advance. This is to give me time to fill the gap in my schedule.
Missed Lessons
Like all other activities, music lessons are a commitment. Once registered, a lesson day and time is reserved specifically for each student and I am there to teach that student regardless of whether or not they attend. Because of this refunds and credits will not be given except in extreme cases (long term illness, emergency situations).
*For private lessons, there are two free lessons over the course of the year that have been worked into the monthly tuition cost. Students who have perfect attendance can consider these lessons a bonus. If a a student needs to miss a lesson, they can use these free lessons. Any lessons missed after this are forfeitted. If there is a cancellation within my normal teaching hours the same week I will offer that to reschedule.
* For group lessons, lessons missed by the student are not refunded. If there is an opening in another class during the same week, it may be possible to reschedule.
* If I cancel a lesson for any reason, a make-up lesson will be provided at a convenient time for the student, or a credit will be given.
Lesson Expectations
* Students are expected to show up with their instrument (for flute) and all music books in use. If books are forgotten, I will try to find something suitable for us to work on, however these lessons are never as productive as they should be.
* As we do not have a separate waiting room, please come at your lesson time.
* If a student shows up late for their lesson, I will teach only to the remainder of the lesson as it is unfair to run into another students lesson time.
* Regular practice is necessary when learning an instrument. I ask for a minimum of 5 days practice each week, covering all that has been assigned. Please ask about the policy on practice for the group preschool/kindergarten classes.
